Penso a tutti quei bambini, ad esempio nella fascia d’età 3-6 anni, che appaiono più piccoli, nei comportamenti, nello sviluppo delle autonomie, nel linguaggio, nell’autoregolazione delle emozioni, nell’interiorizzazione delle regole, nello sviluppo delle relazioni sociali.
Questi sono gli ambiti dove, maggiormente, possono osservarsi dei blocchi o dei ritardi di crescita.
Tre spunti di riflessione: perchè avviene questo? Come stanno i bambini a riguardo? Cosa si può fare?
Rispetto alle motivazioni che possono spiegare quanto detto ce ne sono davvero molte.
In primis possiamo pensare agli effetti della pandemia e, in particolare, del lockdown: si è bloccato tutto, non solo la realtà esterna ma, in molti casi, quella interna intesa come la crescita dei bambini, che è andata incontro ad una regressione, per cui certe tappe, ormai acquisiste e anche consolidate, sono andate perse.
Altre spiegazioni possono essere ricercate nelle dinamiche relazionali presenti tra i bambini e i genitori. Per numerose cause, potrebbe essere che un bambino espliciti il suo bisogno di rimanere piccolo con alcuni comportamenti che trasmettono questo messaggio. Allo stesso modo, nei genitori potrebbe manifestarsi il bisogno di vedere o sentire ancora piccolo il proprio bambino per cui si relazionano ad esso in tal modo, frenando la crescita. In altri casi, invece, potrebbe essere presente una sorta di “trascuratezza”, ovvero una fatica del genitore a comprendere i bisogni del bambino e a rispondervi in modo consono: non per cattive intenzioni, ovviamente, ma semplicemente perchè va bene così, il problema non viene visto, oppure viene percepito ma lasciato in un angolino, magari per paura di affrontarlo.
Tutte ipotesi che, fortunatamente, si possono osservare e “curare”.
In queste situazioni, i bambini possono stare bene, come no.
Nel primo caso, stanno “bene” perchè possono beneficiare di maggiori attenzioni, ad esempio, o essendo trattati come più piccoli, possono beneficiare di cure intense, in termini di qualità e tempo, tipiche dei bambini piccoli.
L’altra faccia della medaglia però esiste e si vede ad esempio nella differenza che i bambini possono percepire rispetto ad altri bambini, facendo così emergere temi quali il sentirsi diversi, incapaci di, ancora dipendenti, “piccoli” nel senso critico del termine, come lo intendono i bambini quando si prendono in giro.
D’altro canto, sul versante psicologico, questa condizione potrebbe incistarsi a livello psichico e far permanere il blocco.
Cosa si può fare allora?!
Intanto poter vedere quanto succede è già un buon primo passo. Per alcuni genitori è faticoso e magari doloroso prendere coscienza di alcuni aspetti difficili del proprio bambino, per cui è ammirevole già solo aprirsi alla possibilità.
Il confronto con l’altro è indispensabile per capire: i bambini trascorrono la maggior parte del tempo nella scuola dell’infanzia, per cui è utile poter avere in mente il punto di vista del personale scolastico rispetto alla crescita del bambino.
